Brickmania brings Joan to life in Lego style

Custom Lego kits builder Brickmania.com just released a Joan of Arc minifigure, and much like anything they do it's all kinds of awesome. Brickmania has been around since 1999 and has gathered a massive following since then among Lego aficionados. For anyone not familiar with Brickmania, they create "historically accurate military building kits, custom printed minifigures, and related accessories using genuine LEGO® building bricks and other premium-quality, after-market parts." (quote directly from their website).

There are a lot of Joan-of-Arc-themed Lego custom kits floating around the internet made by talented Lego enjoyers, from simple Joan-with-a-sword singles, to full blown settings of her execution in Rouen. All cool in their own way. Weirdly enough though, no official Joan of Arc Lego figurine has ever been released. It's in times of great crisis like these that heroes like the guys at Brickmania answer the call, put on the cape and save the day.

As far as Legos go the level of detail on this miniaturized version of Joan is impressive: the iconic banner, the sword with the five crosses, the suit of armor, the bascinet helm, even the chainmail is there to please even the purists among Middle Ages buffs. All in all a very cool homage to France's most beloved Patron Saint.

A special thanks to the guys over at Brickmania for allowing me to feature their work here, and of course for the Joan of Arc minifigure that's about to be in my mailbox in a few days!
